PHASE 2: SCRIPT WRITING
Emotions and personal feelings were key, so I decided to write a poem as a sort of love letter or thank-you note to the country. However, the poem evolved into a more Coronavirus-themed piece, as I began writing it when the virus was beginning to gain force in Europe. Once the poem was complete, I used it as a foundation to jot down ideas so that the storyboard imagery that I envisioned could accurately represent those words. Eventually, I began shooting.

OVERVIEW
This project was undertaken at FH Vorarlberg (Austrian University), where we adopted a much more experimental approach. The only requirement was to produce a video applying all the theoretical knowledge acquired in class. Upon completing this task, we were given full creative freedom to explore and propose any type of short video we desired.

PROCESS
PHASE 1: GENERAL IDEA & CONCEPT
The project began as an overwhelming wave of inspiration that I experienced while staying in Austria. The country's beautiful scenery served as a catalyst for a highly visual and cinematic video. I aimed to represent the emotions evoked by Austria and the pandemic during my time there through various imagery.

GOALS
-
Eliciting raw and deeply personal emotions to engage the viewers.
-
Elevating aesthetics as a primary focus of the project.
-
Providing viewers with a heartwarming sense of identification by portraying the shared struggles experienced during quarantine.
CHALLENGES
The main challenge was shooting amidst a global pandemic. I had only half the expected assistance due to quarantine restrictions, and I had to rethink some scenes because our planned shooting locations were no longer available.
Additionally, directing the actors proved to be challenging as we aimed for the best possible shots, often requiring reshoots. So keeping them focused and motivated during these sessions was essential.
SOLUTION
The final video ended up as a sequence of visual representations for each sentence in the poem I wrote. I took each line and conceived of a scenery or action to adequately convey the personal meaning and emotion behind it.
PHASE 3: SHOOTING
Due to the pandemic, I faced a lot of shooting restrictions, so my personal organization was crucial because I needed to be clear about what, when, and with whom I had to shoot each day to ensure everything went smoothly: locations, required equipment, which friends would appear in each scene, their wardrobe, and their roles.
PHASE 4: EDITING & POST PRODUCTION
Finally, the editing process began. With everything recorded and organized, it was simply a matter of arranging the footage, adjusting colors, incorporating sound effects and music, syncing each scene with the voice narration of the poem, and fine-tuning the narration to achieve a pleasing, profound, and slow-paced atmosphere.

VIDEO POEM
For the creation of the video I used several design principles as a base like: color composition, symmetry, rhythm, pace, and emotional design among others. The video was made using the programs Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.
